The Orisha Academy

The Orisha Academy

"Live right. Do right." Those are the words that as an Olosha initiated to Yemayá I strive to follow every single day.

When all is said and done and this journey of spiritual and human experience is done on this earth, it is my wish to have left a legacy of love and preservation for the way of life that being an olosha represents.

In the coming months, you will see on this website and on The Mystic Cup blog the development of a series of instructional materials to pass along the torch of knowledge and to help develop future generations of Oloshas in every corner of the world.

We are privileged to be able to have technology to unite us across countries, but we also have technology as a barrier. I choose to use technology as a way to fill in communication gaps that may exist in the process of education and not as a substitute for direct interaction between godchild and godparent. Nothing substitutes for the warmth and structure of an ilé and for the time spent with elders, be it listening to their stories over a cup of coffee or learning through first-hand instruction.

For every initiate out there with a thirst for knowledge I do hope that you see the benefit of having materials created to support your growth and development and for you to realize that those materials are not meant to substitute the necessary interaction with your godparents.

For godparents, reset assured that my intention is to offer support to you with materials meant to help develop leadership and communication skills as well as to boost performance and proficiency in the devotional life of your godchildren.

Welcome to The Orisha Academy soon in session.
